Road Trip Day 1

Hello Dear Friends and Family!!!! 

Many of you have asked us to keep in touch by writing a blog about our Road Trip Adventures.....and so, here is the first post on our "Home is where we Johnstons Park it" site.

Now, some of you may fall off your chairs in disbelief, or simply not believe us at all, but we HAVE LEFT Vancouver!  Wahoo!!!  Our departure time was a wee tad late today as we didn't leave our little "home" trailer park until 11:30 am.  But, we did manage to pack all our *stuff* into the 5th wheel and roll on outta Burnaby with style.  Dogs were not tied to the bumper "National Lampoon Vacation" style, and comfortably rode in the truck cab with us. 

Steve expertly packed up the trailer for hauling and drove our monstrosity through the border and down I5.  Honestly, I'm not sure how he does it with all kinds of composure and confidence.  Especially through brutal Seattle traffic!  Okay, enough about Steve.  I have my co-Captain command post all organized in my seat with sweaters, pillow, snacks, sunnies, water, ipod and a homemade "This is no joke, I'm being held captive against my will" sign at the ready. 

So, let the adventures begin!  We are in a lovely campground south of Tacoma by a river.  Ate orange death for supper (Kraft dinner) at 8:30 once we arrived and were settled.  Can't quite bring ourselves to buy the McDonalds dinners yet (because K-D is so much better for you).  Anyway, spirits are high and we will keep you all posted.  Please feel free to email us too as we expect to mostly communicate by email while away.
